Kalaloch Beach Morning Elopement // Olympic National Park // Tree of Life

I am still not over how incredible this morning elopement was!!

Ed reached out to me exactly three months before their wedding date of 10/1/2022. Ed was in luck, I had availability that day, and I am so thankful that I did.

The most unique aspect of this elopement was that Ed planned the entire elopement down to the location. A little back story on Ed and Magen’s elopement plans;

“This all came about when I asked Megan back in February if she trusted me to plan a secret trip in the fall. When she said yes, I conspired with her best friend Sarah and her husband to meet us on this trip, also in secret. I’d planned to ask her to marry me then, but I couldn’t wait.

Instead I asked last week (end of September) and then floated the idea of getting married on the secret trip. She said she’d be open to it but only if Sarah was there, and then I got to spill that surprise!”

Megan also requested that their elopement location have a special tree. And what better place than the Tree of Life on Kalaloch Beach. So Megan knew the date, time and that there was a tree, but nothing else. So all the planning was done by Ed. Flying all the way to the Olympic Peninsula from Wisconsin was the biggest surprise.

You don’t hear wedding stories of the groom planning the entire day. I just think it is the most amazing thing Ed could do to surprise Megan and make this day even more memorable.

Ed and Magen’s morning started off at the Kalaloch Lodge Cabins where they got ready. We met at the Kalaloch Campground parking lot where we made our way to the beach and to the Tree of Life. The couple said their I do’s and at exactly 10:01am on 10/01/2022 they were married. The couple broke out the champagne for a little toasting and celebrations before moving into Bridal Portraits.

Ed and Megan did a quick outfit change right after the toasting to more casual attire for a few shots. The idea behind this was for when they send out their engagement announcement on the back would be a picture of their wedding day bridal attire. “We got engaged but surprise, we got married!

For Ed and Megan’s bridal portraits we decided to move to Ruby Beach. Ed and Megan absolutely loved the backdrop of the rocks and sea stacks. It is so dramatic and beautiful.

After our adventuring around the rocks and sea stacks the group was headed to lunch in Forks then off to the Hoh Rainforest for a hike. I just love that every little bit of this elopement had so much thought and unique things specific to Ed and Megan. It was such a memorable morning.
