Olympic National Park Location Guide - The Olympic Peninsula

Below I have listed many locations that are perfect for elopements, weddings, senior sessions, family sessions, maternity sessions and couples sessions. When choosing your location think about the outfits you want to wear and the feel you want the session to have. The Olympic Peninsula truly has the most versatile locations from the moody beaches to the grassy alpine and all of the Rainforests and rivers in between. We have it all and it truly gives you the PNW vibe.

Rialto Beach - Is one of the many Iconic stops when touring the Olympic Peninsula. This beach is also a favorite of mine and will leave you feeling satisfied after watching its classic west coast sunset. A short two mile walk along the pebbly beach and you will reach the Hole in the Wall. At low tide the numerous offshore sea stacks provide a gorgeous backdrop for any session.

Ruby Beach – A short distance from the parking lot through salmonberry hedges to the sandy beach lined with driftwood. This beach showcases numerous rock stacks and the larger Abby Island creates a dramatic coastline. Ruby Beach is one of the most well known and highly visited beaches along the Olympic coastline.

Crescent Beach – Provides panoramic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains just west of Port Angeles. Located at the mouth of Salt Creek the meandering stream has created many grassy tidal meadows which are breathtaking against the evening sun.

Anderson Homestead - Located just 10 miles south of Forks this property offers a spectacular late season location. When all the plants begin to hang it up for winter here is where you will find the brown pallets of aging tall grass. This area consists of large fields with towering spruce backdrops and it even has river access for the adventurists!

Lake Crescent –  The crystal-clear lake is outlined with a stunning forested mountain range and offers a variety of shooting locations. A great destination for any season, rain or shine!

Hurricane Ridge – Offers a dramatic view of the snow capped Olympic Mountain range, grassy mountain top meadows and rugged forests create the most stunning backdrop for any session.

Richwine Gravel Bar - Located near the mouth of the Quillayute River this location provides a large gravel bar with slow moving tide water that is a sure spot for an evening shoot. There is plenty of room to spread out here but come prepared to get a little wet!

Hoh Rainforest – Is one of the best locations during fall. The Hall of Mosses is blanketed with deep orange colored leaves from the Bigleaf Maple which contrast with the brilliant green hue of the moss covered old growth. This time of year the Hoh runs with a beautiful blueish gray tint that only a glacier fed river can muster and the overcast skies accentuate the moody enchanted feel deep within the Olympic National Park.

First and Second Beach - The coastline near La Push is separated into three beaches, First, Second and Third Beach. Each beach provides its own unique qualities and experiences with driftwood that litters the beach to huge rock stacks growing out of the ocean. Access varies to each location from parking near the beach to hiking a couple miles.

Kalaloch Beaches (Tree of Life) – The Kalaloch Beaches differ from the rugged northern coast line due to their continuous miles of wide flat sand. A popular stop along the beach is the Tree of Life, a large Sitka Spruce tree that is suspended above the ground with its roots hanging down exposed. It is a rare sight and a fitting location for a possible maternity session or even an elopement.

Infrastructure and Architecture - Especially during the spring the green can get very intense around here! Roads and Bridges offer an opportunity to break that up while adding some unique texture to a photo. Bridges and windy roads are in no short supply in our neck of the woods!

Clallam Bay Spit - The Community Beach County Park located along the straits of Jaun De Fuca offers a more relaxed ocean view. The slow moving beach offers a lot of character found no where else.
